WIC:
for Women, Infants and Children
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children---better known as WIC--- is the nation’s premier public health nutrition program. WIC helps families get a healthy start by promoting healthy habits early in life.
WIC services include growth and health assessments, education on nutrition and physical activity, nutritious foods, referrals to other preventive health services, and breastfeeding education and support.
You are eligible if you:
- Live in Oregon
- Are a pregnant, postpartum or a breastfeeding woman,
- Fruits and Veggies (fresh or frozen)
- Whole grain breads
- Milk
- Cheese
- Eggs
- Dried beans or peas
- Peanut butter
- Cereal
- Infant formula
- An infant, or
- A child under 5 years old. (Fathers, grandparents, foster parents or other guardians may apply for WIC for their children)
- Have a nutritional need
- Have a household income that meets the WIC income guidelines. (updated every April)

Find the WIC clinic near you or call 800-723-3638 (SAFENET) and make an appointment at your local clinic.
Bring these documents to your appointment
When you go to your appointment you will need to show several types of documentation. Be sure to bring with you:
- Proof of ID – Driver’s license, pay stub, state ID card, etc.
- Proof of Residence – Rent or utility bill, bank statement, etc.
- Proof of Income – Pay stub, food stamp letter, unemployment stub, W2 form, etc.
If your infant or child is included in the WIC application, bring:
- Your child
- Proof of ID for infant/child – Birth certificate, immunization record
- Child’s Immunization (shot) Record, if you have it
